Test Unit
VDH developed a leak detection machine to test oxygen tanks for emergency systems in airplanes for a manufacturer of respiratory equipment. This leak tester works semi-automatically, i.e., due to the quantity, manual feeding is the most economic solution. The test gas measurement with mass spectrometer is used as measuring method. The parts are scanned via barcode reader and the measuring results are stored in a database.

Test Piece
Test piece is a plastic cartridge (tank), which is filled with the chemical to produce oxygen. During the production process, the manufacturer fills the cartridge with the test gas helium. After the test is completed, the test gas remains in the cartridge.

Test Unit
The electrical industry tests capacitors for leakage in order to protect them from drying out and ultimately from being inoperative. Due to a low quantity of test pieces, this leak detection machine is designed for semi-automatic operation, i.e. for manual feeding. The mass spectrometer measuring system is used as test method. Test gas is helium.

Test Piece
Test piece is the capacitor. The helium is filled into the capacitor during the production process. Inside the chamber, a vacuum is created around the outside of the capacitor and a mass spectrometer measures the test gas emission.
